Concentric AB's innovative pump technology has won four significant development contracts with major European truck manufacturers and tier one system suppliers for next generation, Euro 6 engines.
Production is scheduled to start in 2013, in line with the Euro 6 emissions milestone, but details cannot be announced until the new engines are unveiled. Concentric is currently working on variable flow oil and water pumps (VFP), which use significantly less power and fuel than conventional fixed flow pumps, as well as optimized fuel transfer pumps. Although the new customers have their headquarters in Europe, their products will be sold worldwide.
By matching flow to the engine's actual requirement at each point of the operating cycle, Concentric variable flow oil and water pumps enable OEMs to reduce parasitic losses, improve fuel economy and meet escalating emission standards. When the Concentric variable flow oil and water pumps are used together, fuel savings can reach as much as 4% on typical duty cycles.
Over recent years, ever-tightening emissions legislation has resulted in less fuel efficient engines. The Concentric products allow engine manufacturers to meet both legislative requirements and their own fuel economy improvement targets. The improvement in fuel economy also results in a further reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
